Clear Water

Aquamarine

This ocean inspired collection is a love letter to childhood imagination where shells became treasures, tides held secrets and mystical creatures came to life. Each piece blends playful, sculptural forms with everyday function; echoing a child's tendency to give, even the most mundane thing, a functional place in their world.

The beach was my favourite place to visit when I was little. This is a photo of my brother and I playing in the sand at Castle Point beach. So many amazing memories and wonderful explorations where had here.

I use Inkscape to draw my product ideas and get an idea of how the collection will look as a whole

I play around with glaze colour and composition by mixing different glazes together. I chose ones that best fit the collection.

Slip casting is how I bring these deigns to life. I sculpt everything by hand, using a non-hardening clay. Afterwards, the PPE goes on and I make plaster molds of the sculptures.

Once the molds are completely dry, I fill them up with liquid clay. This process is slip casting. I remove the mold and a hollow replica of my sculpture is born.

Glazing is definitely my favourite part because I never know what the finished piece will look like once it is fired. It's an exciting yet nerve wracking surprise.
